Wayne Rooney did not hold back after being asked about Sergio Aguero’s iconic title-winning goal.
The former Manchester United striker joined the panel for the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate, and one ballsy Manchester City fan decided to ask about the goal which is clearly still a sore subject for Rooney.
X / @WeAreTheOverlapThe question may have touched a nerve with Rooney[/caption]City famously snatched the title away from their bitter rivals thanks to Aguero’s stoppage-time winner against QPR.
Rooney and his United teammates had thought they would get their hands on the trophy after his goal was enough to beat Sunderland before the title was suddenly snatched away from their grasp.
The supporter asked: “What about 2012, Wayne, was that a good one? Aguero goal mate.”
His question was met with a stern expression and silence of Rooney, much to the amusement of those in the room.
Jamie Carragher joined the audience in bursting out laughing before Rooney gave his answer.
In response, he explained: “Obviously that was a tough one but again didn’t Paddy Kenny turn the ball in, two goals, QPR knew they were safe.
“City get it to 2-2, then they just boot the ball back to them. They had (Djibril) Cisse on the pitch, Joey Barton got sent off for acting stupid.”
Carragher then jokingly asked: “So, you’ve got over it?”
Rooney produced another hilarious reply as he shrugged and said: “That should have been looked into.”

City are currently awaiting the outcome of their legal case having been charged with 115 breaches of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules.
Meanwhile, Aguero’s heroics in 2012 denied Rooney what would have been his fifth league title at the time.
Roberto Mancini’s side had trailed relegation-threatened QPR heading into stoppage time.
However, goals from Edin Dzeko and Aguero during the additional period secured one of the most dramatic title victories in English football history.
It was the first of City’s eight Premier League crowns and ended a 44-year wait for a league title.
Rooney had to wait another season for his fifth triumph with United as they recovered to win the title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season.
Although it was the last time the former Red Devils captain won the Premier League, it followed previous victories in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
