Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson is simply in awe with young Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s skills, just like the rest of the fans. The 14-year-old, who became the youngest debutant in IPL history, impressed in his maiden outing with a blazing 34-run knock. Samson reckoned that Suryavanshi was en route to making his debut for Team India very soon.
Cricket 9 mins RR predicted playing XI vs RCB: No Sanju Samson, Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets another game“He looks ready”
In a video uploaded by Star Sports on social media platform X, Samson heaped praise on Vaibhav. He noted that the 14-year-old was very confident and that he was very well aware of the situation of Indian cricket at present and what brand of cricket needs to be played.
“He looks very confident. He was hitting sixes out of the ground in the academy. People used to say he is hitting such big sixes at this age. He looks ready. It is all about keeping him in best shape and in a relaxed environment. You may never know, in a couple of years, he might end up playing for India as well,” Samson said.
Vaibhav is all set to be in action once again on Thursday when RR lock horns with RCB. Like the previous game, he will replace Samson who hasn’t travelled with the team due to an injury.
Vaibhav’s impressive debut
In his debut game, Suryavanshi left everyone awestruck, hitting two international pacers, Thakur and Avesh Khan, for handsome sixes. Typical T20 batting – remove the front leg and murder a whack down the ground. When the spin came on, he looked comfortable, too.
Even LSG’s best bowler of the season, Digvesh Rathi, wasn’t spared. He cleared the 70m square boundary with ease, an extreme rarity for a teenager. Suryavanshi stitched a perhaps match-winning opening stand of 85 runs with fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Nevertheless, Suryavanshi’s brief stay of 20 balls came to an end with a loopy off-spin by Aiden Markram and some fast bit of stumping by Rishabh Pant.
