Youngsters in IPL, are the backbone of any franchise, which has been at full display in the 2025 season. For the last few week, InsideSport has been tracking the best performances by these rising stars, and the week went by, brought to the fore — four players, who have slowly started to make their names in the leaue.
Remember the Name, Abhishek Porel
Even though Abhishek Porel isn’t a very new name for the IPL fans, he has managed to create a name for himself this season. After starting out slowly, he has just shown a lot of consistency. In the two matches last week, he went on to score 49 vs RR and then accumulated 18 in the next clash vs GT. That means in 8 matches, he has scored 225 runs at an average of 322. The strike-rate remains a decent 146.
Abdul Samad’s Best Season Till Now
Now, 113 runs in 8 matches don’t show the true picture of what Abdul Samad has done for LSG. The J&K player first burst on to the scene way back in 2020/21, but never justified his spot in the team. At least this year he has some runs to his name. First, in the match vs CSK, he scored 11-ball 20, and then followed it up with 10-ball 30 vs RR. What made that knock special was, in the end, LSG won by two runs, and had Samad not came up with those big blows at the end, Lucknow would have perhaps lost the match.
All of 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Can Hit the Long Ball
You just don’t expect any player, let alone a 14-year-old, to start their IPL career with a six on the very first ball. But then Vaibhav Suryavanshi is no regular teenager. Not only he smacked Shardul Thakur for a six on his first delivery he faced, but went on to score 34 from 20. His innings also included two more sixes and two fours in the innings. Something gives away, that he will be a big star in the time to come.
Not as Young, But Ayush Mhatre Could End CSK’s Batting Woes
Perhaps, Suryavanshi has redefined what a youngster is, but Mhatre could also qualify as one. The 17-year-old batter was drafted into the side as a replacement for Gurjapneet Singh, and in his first match showed some class. Against MI, he went on to score 32 from 15, that included four fours and two sixes.
