Stephen Bunting is hoping to harness the home crowd on night 12 of the Premier League.

The Liverpool-born darts star faces Rob Cross in the quarter-finals at the M&S Bank Arena on Thursday.

He has yet to win a Premier League match on Merseyside, losing 7-1 to Phil Taylor in 2015 and drawing 6-6 with Cross five years later.

But he believes he’s more prepared than ever to right that wrong.

Bunting told Breakfast: “It’s important as well not to get carried away because I’ve played in Liverpool a long time ago and the occasion got to me.

“I think I’m a lot more long in the tooth now so to say and I’m really looking forward to it.

“The fans are a massive part of our game and I’m sure in Liverpool on Thursday I’ll be able to get them all on my side and hopefully Rob Cross will be shaking in his boots.”

The Bullet has also revealed which music will accompany his walk-on this week.

Bunting is a passionate Liverpool fan but has ruled out using the club’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Asked if he would be making a change, he revealed: “It’ll definitely be Titanium.

“I’m not going to do ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. I think all the Evertonians would boo me.”

Bunting’s track, ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta and Sia, has become a fan favourite amongst darts fans.

The crowd regularly sings along with the world number four as he makes his way to the oche before matches.

Ahead of Thursday’s action, Bunting sits bottom of the standings despite reaching the final of night 11 in Rotterdam last week.

With five nights remaining, he is four points behind Cross and Chris Dobey, with the play-off spots a further three points ahead of him.

However, Bunting is confident he can still make the top four after skipping last weekend’s European Tour event in Germany.

He added: “I’ve took all the pressure off myself to be honest.

“Obviously it would have been nice if Chris Dobey didn’t go and win that last week and I could have won and I’d have been on level points with him.

“But like I said the form’s really good, I’m playing well, I’ve just won my European, a few titles this year already and just looking forward to the rest of the season, to be honest.

“I didn’t go to Munich the weekend just to keep myself fresh and obviously finish the campaign in the Premier League on a high.”

Michael van Gerwen claimed victory at the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich with the help of a nine-darter in his third round match against Ryan Searle.
