Jack Wilshere has become the interim manager at Norwich City with two Championship matches remaining this season.
The Canaries announced on Tuesday that head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has left the club with immediate effect.

“Whilst we made this appointment with a long-term focus and in line with our wider club strategy and direction, unfortunately recent results and performances have deemed it necessary for us make a change,” sporting director Ben Knapper said in a statement.
“I’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Johannes and Glen [Riddersholm, assistant]. They are both fantastic people who worked tirelessly to help improve and move our football club forward.
“We all wish the two of them the best in the next stage of their respective careers.”
Wilshere, who joined Norwich as a coach from the Arsenal academy in October, will now take charge on an interim basis.
They next face Middlesbrough, managed by the former midfielder’s ex-England teammate Michael Carrick.
Cardiff City visit Norwich on the final day of the season and have Wilshere’s former Arsenal co-star Aaron Ramsey as their manager.
“The club will now progress with its plans of appointing a new permanent head coach in due course,” Norwich added.
Wilshere announced his retirement from football in 2022 at the age of 30 after a career full of injury struggles.
He most notably played for Arsenal, making 197 appearances and winning two FA Cups.

Wilshere guided them to the FA Youth Cup final in his first season, although they lost to West Ham.
talkSPORT reported in October 2023 that MLS side Colorado Rapids interviewed him for their head coach role.
However, he remained in England and later completed a switch to Norwich in the Championship.
The Canaries finished sixth last season to reach the play-offs but may now be set for a bottom-half Championship finish.
