SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom is offering $50,000 to anyone who turns in the person who shot and wounded a Hillsborough police officer last February, his office announced Friday.
Since the Feb. 22 broad daylight shooting, police have “exhausted all investigative leads” in seeking the identity of a person who shot the officer in an apparent targeted murder attempt, a news release says. The officer was treated at a San Francisco hospital and released.
The officer returned fire and the suspect was later scene running from the area. The ambush-style shooting occurred at the Hillsborough police department at 1600 Floribunda Avenue, authorities said.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect and interviewed witnesses, but have yet to learn the person’s identity. They’re now hoping the $50,000 incentive will shake loose a valuable tip.
