EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a summary of crime reports taken from the Greeley Police Department’s daily logs. Only a few of the hundreds of reports will be used in this weekly column because of space limitations.

March 28

5:00 a.m.: A caller at 13th Street and 8th Avenue reported finding a dog that was a mix of a Jack Russell terrier, Chihuahua and pit bull with the name “Munchy Crunchy” on its tag. After returning the dog to its owner, the officer wrote, “Good boy Munchy happily went back to his mom,” in the dispatch notes.

March 29

5:15 a.m.: A caller at a hotel in the 700 block of 8th Street reported a man whom hotel staff found the day prior with needles and foil had returned and fallen asleep on a couch in the lobby.

7:00 a.m.: A caller on the U.S. 34 Bypass reported a black Suburban abandoned in the middle of the road between 11th and 17th avenues. By the time police responded and closed the road, two separate vehicles had crashed into the Suburban.

7:30 a.m.: A caller at a convenience store in the 6500 block of 29th Street reported finding a western tiger salamander in the parking lot, and Google “said it was poisonous.” Police recommended the caller, who had the salamander contained, relocate it to a safe area since the species is native to Colorado.

8:45 a.m.: A caller in the 1600 block of 11th Avenue reported a group of three or four people came to his house the night prior and left him with a dog. The caller said the dog was friendly, but he wasn’t sure what to do.

March 30

7:45 a.m.: A caller at a restaurant in the 1700 block of 8th Avenue reported he left his car there the night prior, and it was gone when he went to get it. Police reviewed security camera footage, which showed four men — including the caller’s son — get into the car and drive away.

1:30 p.m.: A caller at 29th Street and 65th Avenue reported a man covered in mud was walking through a construction zone in the area and knocking down all of the cones.

1:45 p.m.: A caller at an unknown address reported someone had been coming up to her house every night between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. to knock on her door and windows and ask if anyone was inside. She said it had happened every night for about a week.

2:00 p.m.: A caller at a clothing store in the Greeley Mall had stopped a man for trying to pay with what the store believed was a counterfeit $100 bill. Police responded and verified the $100 bill was legitimate.

2:30 p.m.: A caller at an elementary school in the 600 block of East 20th Street reported three children climbing on top of the school. The caller thought they might have been vandalizing something.

3:15 p.m.: A caller at an apartment complex in the 600 block of 22nd Street suspected there had previously been a shooting at his apartment because he found a hole in the wall behind his TV, a dent on the back of the TV and possibly a bullet. The caller didn’t see or hear when it happened, but noticed a few weeks prior and just got around to reporting it.
