Grant Chapa will join St Bonaventure for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Chapa spent one season out west at BYU and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Chapa started his season strong and swam numerous best times at midseason at the Texas Invite. Those swims included a 49.46 100 back, 1:49.48 200 back, and 49.19 100 fly.
He swam at the Big 12 Championships and improved upon his best times as he swam a 48.64 100 back in finals for 23rd. He was slightly faster in prelims with a 48.52. He also swam to a best time 48.99 100 fly.

100 back: 48.52 200 back: 1:49.48 100 fly: 48.99The St. Bonaventure men finished 2nd at the 2025 Atlantic-10 Championships with 517.5 points. George Washington captured the conference title with 883.5 points.
Leading the way for the Bonnies was Alexander Behr who scored 45 individual points and was highlighted by a 2nd place finish in the 200 fly with a 1:43.80. Aidan Kreiley scored the 2nd most individual points on the team with 39 and was highlighted by a conference title in the 100 breast (53.30).
Chapa is the 2nd swimmer to announce his transfer from BYU this offseason as butterflyer Joseph Pyon will join the team with two years of eligibility left. Pyon has best times of 47.85 in the 100 fly and 1:47.80 in the 200 fly.
Based on his best times, Chapa adds depth to the backstroke group. Behr led the way with a 47.81 100 backstroke while Luigi Termine was 2nd on the roster this past season with a 48.13. Termine led the 200 back with a 1:46.12 just ahead of Henry Wilkes (1:46.27). Chapa’s best 100 and 200 backstroke times would have made the ‘B’ final at the 2025 A-10 Championships.
