Iconic '90s Band Releases Never-Before-Seen Footage for New Video of Hit Song ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The group—guitarist John Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac and drummer Mike Malinin—had one of the biggest hits of the decade with “Iris.” The song, from the soundtrack for 1998’s City of Angels, was everywhere on alternative rock radio and has since become the band’s signature track.

It’s a time capsule for fans who lived through the late-‘90s (or those who were curious as to what it was like.) John rocks a mesh black button-up. The band sports trench coats in one shot. It is pure ‘90s nostalgia, and fans were living for it.

The song’s original music video featured scenes from City of Angels, starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. Nicolas and Meg are absent from the new lyric video, but the new footage more than makes up for it.

“I was thinking to myself, this guy [Cage’s character] will give up his immortality, just to feel all the horrible things that human beings feel, just to feel human,” he added. “I actually know a ton of people, who would do the opposite, so they didn’t have to feel. That was the moment I knew what I would say to this person.”
