A 67-year-old pedestrian was badly hurt Friday when a pickup truck struck him in San Ysidro, authorities reported.
The 47-year-old driver of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma hit the man at about 10 a.m. as he attempted to turn left out of a driveway in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Paramedics took the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of serious but apparently non-life-threatening injuries, including brain bleeds.
The man also suffered skull and facial fractures and a broken wrist, police said in a news release.
The pedestrian was walking southbound and out of the crosswalk at the time of the collision, they added, but said the driver failed to yield the right of way. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the collision. The police Traffic Division will handle the investigation.
