White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Wednesday afternoon, as the Trump administration faces backlash over President Trump's sweeping tariff and immigration agenda.

Leavitt is expected to be joined by a "special guest," according to White House guidance.

The event comes after U.S. District Judge James Boasberg moved to hold the administration in contempt over deportation flights — and amid pushback over the mistaken deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador — and after Trump met with Japanese officials to discuss potential negotiations around his tariffs.

The briefing is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
