Mizzou’s 2025 football season will start a couple of days earlier.
The program announced Thursday that the Tigers will now take the field on Aug. 28, a Thursday, to open the 2025 campaign. Mizzou faces Central Arkansas in Week 1, a tune-up before the rivalry renewal with Kansas.

— Mizzou Football (@MizzouFootball) April 10, 2025The Tigers are entering Year 6 with head coach Eli Drinkwitz. After an up-and-down first 3 years, the Tigers have posted a 21-5 record over the past 2 seasons, with back-to-back bowl wins and ranked finishes.

The big question facing Drinkwitz and the Tigers is who will take over as QB1. Brady Cook has moved on after a standout career and leaves big shoes to fill in Columbia. The competition is between Sam Horn and Beau Pribula.
Horn, a redshirt junior, missed all of 2024 after injuring his arm pitching for the MU baseball team. Pribula comes in after scoring 19 touchdowns (10 rushing, 9 passing) as Penn State’s QB2 the past 2 seasons.
