Colorado State Transfer Kyan Evans Commits to UNC Men’s Basketball ...Middle East

Kyan Evans, who spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with Colorado State, committed to head coach Hubert Davis and UNC out of the transfer portal Wednesday evening. He will have two years of eligibility remaining in Chapel Hill.

Colorado State made the NCAA Tournament in each of Evans’ two seasons with the Rams, though the 6-foot-2 point guard from Kansas City played sparingly as a freshman and only logged a combined seven minutes in the team’s two tournament games. But Evans came on strong as a sophomore, starting all 36 games for the Rams and playing nearly 30 minutes per game. His numbers skyrocketed across the board, as the point guard posted averages of 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. The sharpshooting Evans also shot 85.2 percent from the free throw line and 44.6 percent on three-pointers.

Evans played his best basketball down the stretch of the 2024-25 season. He scored in double figures in 12 of the Rams’ final 13 games, helping Colorado State make an unlikely title run in the Mountain West Tournament and punching a ticket to the program’s second consecutive NCAA Tournament. Evans was named to the All-MWC Tournament team.

In a first-round upset against No. 5 seed Memphis in the NCAA Tournament, Evans was electric, scoring 23 points while shooting 6-9 on threes. He added four assists, two rebounds and did not commit a turnover. Evans’ Rams were on the doorstep of a Sweet 16 berth two days later, but a buzzer-beater by No. 4 seed Maryland ended Colorado State’s season. Evans finished with 10 points, four rebounds and an assist in the game.
