Mississippi State forward KeShawn Murphy announced on Wednesday he is entering the transfer portal and leaving Starkville.
The redshirt junior flirted with the portal last offseason but ultimately elected to remain with the Bulldogs. After a breakout season, it seems Murphy is looking to move on for good.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to continue my career/dream on a high level. I also want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mississippi State University and the coaching staff for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my time here,” Murphy wrote in a post on social media. “The last four years at Mississippi State, I have built great bonds on and off the court!
“I am more than grateful to be a part of amazing teams and staffs throughout my career. To my teammates old and new. Thank you for pushing me to my full potential and keeping my head high when I needed it the most.”
Murphy will have 1 year of eligibility left.

— Keshawn Murphy (@kballer_21) April 9, 2025Murphy appeared in 34 games this past season. In 24 minutes per contest, he averaged 11.7 points to go with 7.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks. He shot 56.6% from the field. Despite coming off the bench for 31 of his 34 games, Murphy led the team in rebounds and blocks while finishing second in scoring.
He made 74 career appearances for the Bulldogs across 4 seasons. He has career averages of 7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in 17.4 minutes.
Murphy was a 3-star recruit from Birmingham, Alabama, who signed with the Bulldogs out of the 2021 class. He took an official visit to Alabama during the high school recruiting process.
He’s the seventh Bulldog to enter the transfer portal since the window opened.
