New Zealand native Vanessa Ouwehand won the women’s 50 fly at the Sacramento Pro Swim, touching in 25.94. This made her the only woman in the field to dip under the 26-second barrier. After fighting a few illnesses and now dealing with a sprained ankle, the 25-year-old has decided to race through May and then focus on getting a good training block in through October. This will mean she will forego trying to qualify for the 2025 World Championships, instead shifting her focus to the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
