Former CSK star Robin Uthappa finds no fault in MS Dhoni amid the team’s miserable IPL 2025 campaign so far. Ruturaj Gaikwad and co. have been handed losses four out of five times already in the ongoing season. Uthappa, who had earlier suggested that MSD bat at number three, has pinned the blame on the rest of CSK batters for their woes in IPL 2025.

Speaking on Kuhl Fans Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, Uthappa reckoned that CSK’s woes were not confined to the finishers. He instead felt that the responsibility was already passed on by Dhoni to the next generation.
“I don’t think there was ever a lack of intent from MS Dhoni. Even outside the IPL, I believe he has passed on responsibility to others and given them a clear understanding of what to expect in the coming years as CSK rebuilds into a championship-contending side. That transition is happening, and while we would love to see MS bat the way he is right now, perhaps a little higher up the order, I don’t think the problem lies at the end,” Uthappa said.
Dhoni managed to score 27 runs from 12 deliveries, including 3 sixes and 1 four in the game against PBKS. Prior to the tie, MSD has registered scores of 0*, 30*, 16 and 30*. While his position in the batting order was questioned in the run-chase against RCB, he seems to have made amends thereon. However, he hasn’t managed to finish off games on a winning note despite nearly staying till the end against DC and PBKS.
43-year-old Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player by CSK ahead of IPL 2025. However, his cameos have not been able to take his team across the line so far in IPL 2025.
