Baseball roundup: Cypress advances to National Classic final ...0

Eight different players had hits for Cypress in its 8-1 win over Arlington of Riverside in the semifinals of the National Classic baseball tourament.

Cal State Fullerton commit Noah Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI for the Centurions. Wyatt Rosales had a double and two RBIs and Gary Hennessy went 1 for 1 with a stolen base and two RBIs.

Aiden Franco had eight strikeouts in 4⅓ innings to get the win.

Cypress (11-7) will play Aquinas in the championship game Thursday at 4 pm at El Dorado High.

Also in the National Classic:

El Dorado 2, Liberty (Arizona) 1: Steven Duran and Lorenzo Favela were dominant on the mound for El Dorado.

Duran allowed three hits and one run in five innings to earn the win and Favela pitched two perfect innings to get the save. David Domingo had the lone RBI for El Dorado (14-4).

In the Trinity League:

Mater Dei 2, Santa Margarita 1 (11 innings): Brady Guth had a walk-off single for Mater Dei in an 11-inning win over Santa Margarita.

Bradley Beaudreau, Dylan Wetzel and Lawson Olmstead each had two hits for Mater Dei (11-3, 1-1). Brandon Thomas allowed no earned runs in seven innings with 10 strikeouts. Jackson Campbell pitched four shutout innings to get the win.

UCLA signee Hayden George allowed one run in eight innings for Santa Margarita (9-5, 1-1) and had seven strikeouts. Warren Gravely IV had a RBI for the Eagles.

JSerra 4, Servite 2 (9 innings): JSerra scored two runs in the ninth inning due to a fielding error by Servite.

Oregon State commit Blake Bowen went 3 for 4 with a double, a stolen base and a RBI for JSerra (6-6, 1-1). Ethan Kriwinski had two hits with a double and Tyler Dunning stole two bases.

Santa Clara signee Max Reimers allowed no earned runs in 6⅔ innings with eight strikeouts and Jax Janeski got the win in relief.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 9, Edison 1: Fountain Valley scored six runs in the second inning in a road win over Edison.

Isaac Lomeli drove in a run and Miles Hiskey followed with a two-run double to give the Barons (10-6, 4-3) a 4-1 lead. After an Edison error, New Mexico State signee Tyler Peshke hit a three-run home run to extend the lead to 7-1.

Peshke finished the day with four RBIs. D’Angelo Diaz got the win on the mound with just one run and three hits allowed in six innings.

Shane Timmons had a double and a RBI for Edison (9-8, 2-6). The two teams will wrap the three-game series Friday at Fountain Valley.

Los Alamitos 8, Newport Harbor 0: Long Beach State signee Tristin Dalzell had 10 strikeouts in six shutout innings for Los Alamitos and allowed just one hit.

Tyler Smith had two hits including a double, a stolen base and two RBIs. Damon Valdez had a double with two RBIs for Los Alamitos (12-3-2, 5-3).

Elijah Heseth had a double which was the lone hit for Newport Harbor (10-3, 6-2).

Huntington Beach 4, Corona del Mar 3: Mississippi State signee Trent Grindlinger hit a two-run home run for Huntington Beach in a narrow win over Corona del Mar.

Jared Grindlinger allowed no earned runs in three innings to earn the win for Huntington Beach (11-1, 7-0). San Diego State signee Jake Frohn had five strikeouts in two innings to get the save. Jayton Greer drove in a run for the Oilers.

In the South Coast League:

Trabuco Hills 8, Dana Hills 5: Football standout Ryan Luce hit a home run for Trabuco Hills in a win over Dana Hills.

Sam Crouse had two hits with a double and a RBIs for Trabuco Hills (12-2-1, 4-1). Brady Meade drove in two runs and had a single. Mikey Gray allowed no earned runs in 5⅓ innings with just three hits and six strikeouts.

Capistrano Valley 4, Tesoro 0: Brody Hinrichsen pitched a three-hit shutout for Capistrano Valley (8-7-1, 2-2-1) in a home win over Tesoro.

Carter Micallef had a double with a RBI and Samuel Rucker went 1 for 3 with a stolen base and a RBI.

Corwin Allard had six strikeouts for Tesoro (2-11, 1-1). Chase Vlahos had a double for the Titans.

In the Sea View League:

San Juan Hills 7, El Toro 0: Anthony Rasic pitched a three-hit shutout for San Juan Hills with three strikeouts.

Ryan Pimentel and Tanner Kessler each had two hits with a RBI for San Juan Hills (9-8, 3-2).

Mission Viejo 17, Beckman 1: Mission Viejo scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to blow the game open against Beckman.

Max Osika had two hits with a double and four RBIs for Mission Viejo (9-7, 1-1). Jacob Powley and Logan Marsee each drove in three runs and Justin Garner had a RBI single. Wyatt Dunlap allowed one run in four innings.

Jaxson Gomez had a double and a RBI for Beckman (7-10, 1-4).

In the Ryan Lemmon Invitational:

Fullerton 6, Irvine 3: Zach Fany went 4 for 4 with a triple, two stolen bases and two RBIs for Fullerton (11-4-1).

Malachi Meni added a stolen base with two RBIs. Caden Wise pitched five shutout innings and had four strikeouts.

Drake Brito had a double with two RBIs for Irvine (8-11). Jack Dressendorfer went 2 for 3 with a RBI and Roshan Patel had two hits.

Villa Park 4, Pacifica 0: Jack McGuire pitched five shutout innings and allowed just two hits with six strikeouts for Villa Park in the third-place game of the Ryan Lemmon Invitational.

Aidan Young had a triple and two RBIs for VIlla Park (13-4) and Ezra Ornelas had two hits.

Foothill 6, Northwood 1: Everett Rycroft hit a two-run home run for Foothill in a win over Northwood.

Sean Green had two hits with a double and a RBI for Foothill (14-5). Adam Ujiie had four strikeouts and got the win on the mound.

In the Freeway League:

Esperanza 6, Troy 1: Grady Warner allowed zero earned runs with six strikeouts for Esperanza.

Adam Tway and Tungsten DeArte each had two hits with two RBIs for Esperanza (8-7, 2-1) and Tway added a double with a stolen base.

In the Orange League:

Bolsa Grande 13, Saddleback 2: Mikey Haley Jr. had a career game for Bolsa Grande (6-6, 3-2) in a rout of Saddleback.

Haley pitched a complete game and went 3 for 3 at the plate with a triple, two stolen bases and five RBIs. Damien Montes De Oca had three hits with a double and three RBIs and Sebastian Rizo added two hits with three runs.
