In a rush? One of the most anxious parts about getting a passport is the question of whether you'll get it in time. But Wittenberg explains that you can check the U.S. Department of State website to see the current timeframes. As of March 6, 2025, the U.S. Department of State reported that routine processing is expected to take 4-6 weeks, while expedited processing is expected to take 2-3 weeks. This will require you to provide proof of international travel within the next 14 days.There is also the option of applying for a Life or Death Emergency Passport within 72 hours.
