Parvati spoke with Parade about why she asked David to let her play the Banker, the secret to her impressive streak of safety, and what she took from DONDI to her next experience, which will have her returning to a familiar island.

Why did you decide you wanted to play the Banker? Was it because this was your first time vulnerable, and you wanted to get the power bank into your own hands? The game is called Deal or No Deal Island! It is an element of the game to get up there, play the Banker and win. And other people had done that before, and I was on a hot streak. And I was like, "I want to have the experience." I'm just an experience-oriented person. I want to try everything. I want to taste everything. When I go to an ice cream shop, I get every single flavor. I'm that kind of person. So I was like, "I can't leave Deal or No Deal Island without playing the Banker if I have the opportunity." And I didn't trust that CK wasn't going to take me out if she won. So I was like, "Alright, here's my chance."You were safe from elimination nine times in a row. We even get to a point in one challenge when you and David are left alone, and you remark that it seems the others are almost letting you get this safety sometimes. How were you able to maintain such an impressive streak?I think it was a credit to everything. The culmination of all of my gameplay experience, and the way that I approached Deal or No Deal Island was full acceptance, full surrender, full and complete presence. And I have refined that capacity, that skill in myself to be in the moment, to make split-second decisions in the moment on multiple levels. So I was like, "I know who I'm working with. I know what matters to them. I know how to operate and push different levers for different people. I know now there's an element of luck with the suitcases."The challenges were sort of like A Beautiful Mind experience for me. I was like a kid in a candy store. Because I salivate, I die for that kind of stuff. It's my dream thing to do with my life. And then the fact that it was working, it felt like I had cosmic, galactic helpers supporting me. Because I was like, "Stars are aligning. Luck is on my side." I imagine it's what people feel when they go to Vegas, and they're on a hot trip. They're winning game after game, and they're like, "Yeah, I can't lose. "And they're playing craps, and the whole table is cheering for them. You're just gonna explode. This is everything I've built my life on up to this moment, and it just felt like you're in the right place at the right time, and everything's working. You talk about the cosmic helpers. Let's talk about the corporeal one in the form of David. In this last episode, we saw David get the pitch from Phillip to get rid of you at the Temple. Did you have any debate about taking out David at a certain point? Or did you always want to go with him to the final challenge?I was fine going to the end with David because I didn't think he was better than me in challenges. I was like, "I could beat this guy in a challenge." And I knew he wasn't threatened by me. So, that really matters to me in these games. If someone's not threatened by me, and they're willing to go to the end with me, I'm willing to go to the end with them. And that was how it was with David. If you can have that in a game like this, maybe it's a little boring for the people at home to watch. But for me to play with that, it's the best person I want to play with who's smart, who has strengths, where I have weaknesses, or who can fill in the holes. David can talk to Phillip and put Phillip at ease and pretend like he's going to work with him. And you saw how much that mattered in the challenge where CK and I split the bag. David convinced Phillip to wait and not split the bag with him so David could win. And I was like, "Perfect. Now I have a little more power, because my ally is the one with the power." Versus if Phillip didn't trust David, if I'd outed David's secret, other people wouldn't have trusted him. Phillip could have won. He would have taken me out. David would have played the Banker. So, to have someone that I can trust 100% is such a rare, beautiful treasure in a game like this that I was not about to let that go.Let's go from one challenge to another. You are no stranger to a jury, and you get to be part of DONDI's version of helping CK, David, and Lete in their final challenge. Obviously, you were going to help David to the greatest extent you could. So talk to me about how you approached CK and Lete, especially given the quick turnaround time after your elimination. There was no time between being eliminated and doing that challenge, just one night. So it was full-on. And then when I was told, "Okay, I'm going to play a part in helping or sabotaging someone," I was like, "Well, I definitely want to help David, that's clear." But then it's CK and Lete, I'd had an alliance with at one point. We had a one-night alliance with the three of us. It was called the "Banker's Angels." It didn't make the show because it was such a flash in the pan. It was over because of CK's meltdown on the ring challenge because Lete wouldn't help CK. And then that was the end of the alliance! And I chose to work with CK instead of Lete. And when it was those two at the end, I was like, "Dude, CK basically just betrayed me. And Lete, I had no relationship with this whole game. Oh man, like you guys made it to the end, so I'll help you. But I won't help you that much."Let's talk about some of your fellow eliminated players. When you end up winning individually, you were debating sending Dickson in against the Banker. He took a lot of umbrage with that, feeling like it would be a massive betrayal for you to send in your own "son." Talk to me about what your thinking was, and did you realize how affected he was by that?I don't understand why this wasn't shown. But Dickson and I had many conversations about the fact that La Shell was going to take him out if she won. So I said, "Dickson, the one way that I can protect you is by putting you up to play the Banker, because La Shell is saying to me that she's going to take you out if she wins, and I believe her." And he's like, "No, she's not going to. She'll take out Phillip." And I was like, "She won't, she will take you out." So I had many conversations with him about that, but he didn't want to play, and La Shell didn't want to play. So I was like, "Whatever. At this point, I trust CK more than I trust Dickson. And Dickson was saying he was going to take out CK. I'm just going to put up La Shell. And if La Shell wins and takes out Dickson, fine, I warned him." And that was sort of my head space on that. But for the whole game, I had Dickson's number. Early on, I saw he had ice in his veins. Because Luke, the first guy who played the banker, loved Dickson. And Luke came up to me, and he was like, "Protect Dickson at all costs." And I was like, "Okay, you guys have a tight bond." Everyone felt like, "Oh, Dickson, baby boy. He's so sweet and innocent." Then Luke gives Dickson a bracelet before he leaves. Dickson and I are walking back to the dome because we were roommates. And he goes, "Luke gave me this. I don't want it." And he throws it into his bag. And I was like, "Oh my god! Luke loved you, and you don't give a shit about him. I've got my eye on you." I never trusted Dickson like I trusted David. And I also trusted CK more than I trusted Dickson. But I loved keeping him around because he was my baby boy. That was the family; I wanted to keep it together. Plus, I knew Dickson would always have David's back. David would always have my back. So, by association, it was helpful to have him in the family. But Dickson wasn't going to protect me. So the last time we had spoken, you had just made this comment to Phillip that turned him against you. Since then, you two had a talk about how you made him feel, though that did not seem to resolve anything about your relationship. Talk to me about handling that emotional fallout. It was really surprising to me that Phillip was upset about what I'd said. I didn't know. He hadn't talked to me in three days; he was icing me out. So when he sat me down and was ready to have a conversation, it wasn't really a conversation to repair the relationship. It was a conversation for him to dump on me all of the anger or whatever he felt, the betrayal, whatever. And that's why I was so upset. I was like, "I'm so sorry." He's my friend. I didn't want to hurt my friend, and I wanted to talk it through. But then he got up and left. He dumped on me. He got up and left, and I was like, "Okay, then this is not actually a conversation to repair anything." So then I felt like he was trying to emotionally manipulate me into feeling guilty or bad into giving him some extra support in challenges moving forward. But I was like, "I'm not going to be emotionally manipulated into giving you anything. I'm very aware of emotional manipulation and what that looks like. So I'm not going to engage in that." And then that was it for me. I tried to have more conversations with him. It wasn't happening. He wasn't ready to forgive me, let it go, move on, repair. And I think I underestimated how much he didn't trust me and how much he was relating to me, not as a person today. He was relating to his idea of me as this "Black Widow" Survivor winner, manipulator, game player. So, I couldn't bridge the gap with Phillip in the game. Outside the game, we're cool. I think he's wonderful. I love Phillip. I wish him all the success in the world. I think he's hilarious and really, really great. But in the game, we never could get back to where we once were. You mentioned in this most recent episode that your Deal or No Deal Island experience pulled on every show you had been on in the past. I'd be remiss not to mention that it won't be long before we see you on our screens again. So, what did you take away from DONDI that you incorporated into your Australian Survivor game?Oh, it was an incredible warm-up. I felt very warm and ready to play. Because these experiences are so outside of the norm of everyday life, if you're going in cold, it takes a minute to kind of brush off the cobwebs. But when I went straight into Australia vs. the World, I was ready. I hit the ground running. Which was good, because it was a fast and furious game.Lastly, what advice do you have for any future reality stars who compete on a show like Deal or No Deal Island against a newbie cast?I think it's really hard to manage the reputation, because people will relate to you however they will relate to you. But I would say if you can get in with someone who seems to be the most popular one in the group, get the most popular one on your side to say, "I'm not threatened by her or him." Then, the others may follow suit. Just align with whoever the bigger threats are in the game, because Deal or No Deal Ilsand is not about control. It's not about making everyone do what you want them to do. People do what they want to do. It's fine. And these younger players, they have so much interpersonal drama with each other, just let that happen like. Or if you can stir the pot, drop a little seed in there, drop a little bomb in there. There was a moment where MG was telling me how she just told Lete that she had a crush on Storm. And then MG and I look over and Lete's over there flirting with Storm. And I was like,"Ooh, is Letty flirting with your man? Didn't you just tell her?" And she was like, "Yeah! I can't believe it!" So, just pay attention to that. Just stir the pot and create the drama where you can.
