The Channel 4 programme is back, this time in Langkawi, Malaysia, rather than South Africa, with 12 new contestants willing to give up life’s luxuries in the ultimate test of willpower.

But along the way they must resist expensive temptations if they want to keep the prize pot intact.

Henry said since childhood he has found people underestimate him because he is deaf. The 23-year-old from Sheffield said he was often frustrated when people around him did not understand him and found people did not see his potential.

The amateur footballer plans to come out of the experience not having taken any temptations but he also knows it’s not going to be plain sailing eating rice and beans every day.

Bristol University student Hugo says he has often been thought of as the underdog, so wants to embrace this experience and come out on top proving everyone wrong.

He said he can be quite easily influenced by others and does not always think enough before agreeing to things.

Fashion blogger Imani believes life is all about experiences.

She said she wants to challenge herself to see if she can make it to the end when stripped of all modern day conveniences.

Martha said people often judge her before they get to know her.

The former yacht stewardess is used to being around wealthy people while working on luxury boats, has seen how the other half live and covets that luxury lifestyle for herself.

But she admits she is used to having what she wants, when she wants it.

Nathaniel

The 29-year-old said he has never been without basic necessities before or even slept outside of a bed.

Although keen to challenge himself, he has admitted if he is hungry he will go into survival mode, where all cards are off the table and it is him versus the world.

Sam lost the restaurant she owned and ran in 2023, as record-high inflation took its toll.

She believes her background working as a restauranteur has made her strong enough to get through Tempting Fortune.

Sam claims her biggest attribute is her persuasiveness and said she will try to influence the group.

Ted

Retried prison officer Ted wants to conquer an unknown challenge (Photo: Tom Barnes/Channel 4)

The Royal Navy veteran, from Carmarthenshire in Wales, is now a park volunteer and said one of his motivations is to inspire the youth of the valleys areas and use the prize money to invest on local parks and gardens to give back to his community.

Describing himself as a motivator, he hopes his experience working in prison and the Navy will help people buy into his leadership.

Now with a young family of his own, the 33-year-old from Essex said he has had to change his spending habits.

The hospitality sales manager believes he can use his charm, humour and honesty to win over the group and stand up for the underdogs.

Tomasz

Tomasz’s attitude to money has been influenced by his father’s experience growing up in Poland.

Sadly, he passed away from cancer before he could enjoy the savings.

He believes his experience as a firefighter in Nottingham, combined with his intense workout regime, will make his a good leader in tough physical situations.

Paramedic Trish said she loves pushing herself to her limits and taking on new challenges.

After losing her dad at the age of 18 and joining the ambulance service to help others, Trish said she always tries to see the positives in life and is looking for a new adventure.

Greetings car entrepreneur Vicki grew up as one of four in a low-income household and said she understands what it is like to live with minimal means.

However, the former hostage negotiator from Nottingham believes she has the persuasive powers to convince others to follow her approach to temptations and challenges.
