This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Joel Glotfelty.
Glotfelty is a 3rd year resident in UNC’s Department of Medicine. After overcoming a lot in life, including a brain injury in medical school, Glotfelty has dedicated his life to helping others. He founded the nonprofit clothing company Finish the Race, which has worked with organizations like the Special Olympics to design clothes for different events. Also, over the holidays last year, Glotfelty worked with his fellow medical residents to raise $20,000 then partnered with TABLE to use that money to buy gifts for families in need. The money raised bought gifts for 200 families in all and 400 kids.
