KANSAS City has made another roster move – this time in Travis Kelce’s position.

The Chiefs have wasted no time in setting their sights on another Super Bowl run in 2025.

This week they cut ties with seven players while signing 11 to futures/reserves contracts.

That came just hours after their heartbreaking defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, Louisiana.

And Kansas City made another move involving a tight end.

Anthony Firkser, 29, was signed to a reserves/futures contract.

He had a spell with the Chiefs in 2017 but remained a part of the practice squad.

Firkser’s best years came with the Tennessee Titans where he played 63 games in four seasons from 2018 to 2021.

All seven of his career touchdowns also came at the franchise.

The tight end has since had a spell with the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions.

He went back to the team who drafted him, the New York Jets, in 2024.

But he was released and then moved back to Kansas City last November, where he was placed on the practice squad.

Kansas City faces uncertainty at tight end with Kelce yet to make a call on retirement.

He said on his New Heights podcast, “I’m just kicking everything down the road.

“I’m kicking every can I can down the road and I’m not making any crazy decisions.”

Firkser being kept around potentially signals the lack of clarity at the position and gives the Chiefs depth.

The decision on Firkser came after they retained 11 others this week.
