Crews will begin slurry seal street repairs and resurfacing in Otay Mesa on Saturday, with the work expected to continue throughout February.
Some of the roads to be resurfaced include Progressive Avenue, Kerns Street, La Media Road, Avenida Costa Del Sol, Beyer Boulevard and Palm Avenue. Crews will be out in the coming weeks, weather permitting.

Slurry seal is used to protect the condition of streets. It reduces the need for a more costly asphalt overlay and reconstruction for badly deteriorated streets.
Such projects are often completed in phases over several days or weeks and several are happening across the city simultaneously. They are at times coupled with other facility updates with the goal of increasing safety and mobility for all modes of transportation.
Areas are selected for resurfacing through a pavement management system that helps determine when to schedule streets and what treatment to use. Street segments are assigned a pavement condition Index score based on their conditions.
