The Anaheim United Methodist Church is planning its annual rummage sale over a couple of weekends next month.

Shopping will be open at the church, 1000 S. State College Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 7 and 8 and Feb. 14 and 15.

Also, if you have items that you want to donate for sale, deliver them to the church between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If you have any questions, call 714-776-5710.

Shred Day coming in February

Now is the time to get rid of all that extra paper that you don’t want to store.

Local real estate agent Meghan Shigo is having a public shred day on Feb. 22 at her office, 351 E. Center St. Bring your papers for shredding!

Annual Children’s Festival is in the planning

The Anaheim Children’s Festival will be celebrating 34 years this spring.

Everyone is invited to this free event and Anaheim and Orange County organizations are encouraged to have a booth at the May 17 festival to be held at Pearson Park.

Nonprofit and for-profit groups are encouraged to join the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in bringing the arts to our Anaheim and Orange County families. Easy sign up is available on the  muzeo.org website. Entertainers are also encouraged to sign up and join the fun onstage.

Square Dance Club looking for dancers

The Shirts ‘N Skirts Square Dance Club is based in Anaheim and holds regular dances at the Anaheim United Methodist Church.

A new square dance class will be beginning in Orange in February and you can join the fun.  Classes will begin Feb. 20 and be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Simpson Youth Center, 2400 North Canal S., Orange.

Anaheim’s resident ballet plans summer intensive

Ballet enthusiasts are encouraged to audition for the Anaheim Ballet Summer Intensive.

The annual Summer Intensive is scheduled for June 30 to July 26 for intermediate and advanced student dancers, and there will be a second junio session from July 28 to Aug. 2 for younger intermediate students.

Mills Act/historic home workshop coming up in spring

Mark your calendar and save the date of May 28 if you are interested in learning more about the Mills Act.

The Anaheim Planning Department and the Historic Preservation Committee will host a 6 to 7 p.m. community meeting for historic homeowners. The Mills Act will be explained and discussed, so if you have a home with a Mills Act agreement (particularly if you purchased your home with the Mills Act already in place and want more information on what that entails) or if you are interested in finding out if your home qualifies for the Mills Act, you don’t want to miss the meeting.

For the new year, be sure that you are handling your recycling correctly. There is now organic waste and recycling waste and they should not be discarded together.

Monthly Founders Park tour coming up

Founders’ Park features the historic Mother Colony House and Woelke-Stoffel House and free tours are offered on the first Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The city park, at 400 N. West St., also offers agricultural history of Anaheim with walkways and trails that lead visitors through recreated 19th century landscapes.
