American Airlines worker fatally struck by aircraft tug at Charlotte airport: Report ...Middle East

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A worker at Charlotte Douglas International Airport tragically lost his life in an airline ramp vehicle crash on Monday, the airport confirms.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reports the worker was struck by an AA Tug PS234 on the ramp at Gate B12.

According to the police report, CMPD identified the worker as a man in his late 60s. He was pronounced deceased at the scene on Monday by an airport medic crew.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the employee's family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. The Airport is working closely with airline and first responder partners in the ongoing investigation and is providing support as needed. Airport chaplains are available onsite."

An IAM member lost their life on the job today at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The IAM is coordinating with authorities to conduct a full investigation. The IAM has dispatched a safety committee to assist and will provide support to our affected members. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our deceased member.

The N.C. Department of Labor said they were aware of the death and were sending an officer to do an inspection.
