Liverpool vs Ipswich predictions
Top of the table Liverpool face relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Matchday 23 of the Premier League.
The fixture is at Anfield, where Liverpool boast a Premier League home record of seven wins, two draws and one defeat.
The Reds will start Matchday 23 with a six point lead over second-placed Arsenal at the top of the table.
Arne Slot’s team increased their lead thanks to a 2-0 win over Brentford last Saturday. Two stoppage time goals from Darwin Nunez gave the Reds the win, in a match they looked set to only get a solitary point out of.
Furthermore, the victory ended a Premier League two-match winless streak for Liverpool. In their previous two league fixtures, the Reds were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Manchester United, and a 1-1 draw away by Nottingham Forest.
Throw in the 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the Carabao Cup, and Liverpool were three matches without a win in all competitions.
Less than three hours after Darwin’s double, Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal blew a two goal lead over Aston Villa in the Premier League’s evening kick off.
Arsenal’s 2-2 draw resulted in the Gunners immediately giving back the two points they had gained over Slot’s team in the previous match week. The two events combined left many feeling that it’s definitely Liverpool’s title to lose.
Things also continue to go well for Liverpool in the Champions League where they sit atop of the table with maximum points from seven fixtures.
Tuesday’s 2-1 win over LOSC leaves Liverpool needing just one point from their final match against PSV to secure top spot in the group.
The match also saw Mohamed Salah get back on the scoresheet after three matches in all competitions without any goal involvements. The return to goalscoring form for the Egyptian is just in time for the visit of Ipswich Town.
Last Sunday’s 6-0 thrashing at home to Manchester City was Ipswich Town’s worst result of the season. It leaves Town in the Premier League’s bottom three on goal difference.
The loss was also the second in a row at Portman Road, leaving Town with a two-match aggregate score of 0-8, after the Tractor Boys lost 2-0 to Brighton three days earlier.
Ipswich has picked up seven points from ten home matches this season, and nine points from 12 away trips.
After the two recent results at Portman Road, you might be forgiven for thinking a road trip has dropped at the right time. But then you see it’s away to Liverpool at Anfield.
The recent results will be a real kick in the teeth for Ipswich and their highly-regarded manager Kieran McKenna. Especially after a recent 2-0 win over Chelsea and 2-2 draw with Fulham.
Those two results show Ipswich have a performance in them. But it’s unlikely the Tractor Boys will get any joy at Anfield.

After dropping four points in two Premier League matches, Liverpool are now on a winning streak of two in all competitions.
Ipswich have conceded eight in their last two games and confidence must be very low ahead of the trip to Anfield.
This should be another comfortable three points for Liverpool. Find our latest Liverpool vs Ipswich Town betting tips below:
Liverpool to win and under 4.5 goals
Last weekend could have been the weekend the wheels fell off for Ipswich Town.
After weeks of picking up points here and there, along with some unlucky defeats, Town finally got taken to the cleaners by Manchester City.
But, we have already noted that the Tractor Boys have a better away record than they do home.
Furthermore, Liverpool haven’t been at their best in recent weeks.

Excluding the 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, the Reds went on a three-match winless streak in all competitions in the new year.
Liverpool broke that run with their unconvincing 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday. And they were far from their fluid best in the 2-1 Champions League win over LOSC on Tuesday.
Ipswich should be able to keep this scoreline respectable. And besides, this tip covers a 4-0 home win.

Omari Hutchinson 2+ shots
Ipswich may have surrendered meekly against Manchester City and also lost to Brighton, but one man who did try and make and leave his mark in both matches was Omari Hutchinson.
The former Chelsea youth player had two shots in both matches. He was one of the few Town players who gave it a go in both fixtures, particularly in the early stages of the match against City when Ipswich looked dangerous going forward.
Hutchinson, along with Liam Delap, are two players that will no doubt be considering their futures if the Tractor Boys go down. So, they will both want to make an impact in high profile matches.
Back Hutchinson to try his luck whenever he gets the chance at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo to score anytime
Mohamed Salah got back on the scoresheet in midweek. He is just 1/3 to add to his goal tally against Ipswich. That looks too short.
Cody Cakpo was rested in midweek against LOSC. And now with the news that Diogo Jota is again injured, the Dutchman is likely to be needed when the Reds face Ipswich.
Gakpo is on the verge of equalling a Dutch record. If he scores against Ipswich he will become just the third ever Dutchman to score in five consecutive Premier League home matches.
If the match goes according to plan, Gakpo should get plenty of chances against the Tractor Boys.
