Rohit Sharma made a shocking decision ahead of the last game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The India National Cricket Team skipper dropped himself from the team for the last game and handed leadership to Jasprit Bumrah with Shubman Gill replacing him as batter.
Mohammad Kaif wasn't impressed with the way Rohit dropped himself, saying that he shouldn't play the Tests now. He added that the India captain should've led from the front and helped his team draw the match. Speaking in a video posted on his Twitter account, he said:

Mohammad Kaif wasn't convinced with Virat Kohli leading the team in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He said that the batter didn't captain for the last few years and he had no idea of the team. He stressed:

Kaif concluded by saying that irrespective of the score, Rohit Sharma should've played the last match because he was in good form. He felt that Rohit had to play a big role in Sydney, but he walked away. He elaborated:
"Everyone was struggling for runs. KL Rahul scored in the beginning, but he, too, failed later, scoring 100 or 0 at times. So, nobody scored runs. As a leader, there was a big role for Rohit Sharma in that Test match. Just being out there with the team that boss."
