Here's everything to know about the feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
Reports of there being beef between the Fast and the Furious stars started back in August 2016. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Johnson lauded all of his female costars on the set of Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment in the hit franchise. He then segued that into calling out his male costars by comparison, shading one anonymous actor in particular.
Fans were able to sleuth out that Diesel was one of the main people that Johnson was calling out. As an insider told People, "Vin has been having problems with The Rock because The Rock keeps showing up late for production. Sometimes he doesn't show up at all, and he's delaying the production."
When did Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson leave the Fast and the Furious franchise?
Five years after seemingly calling out Diesel, Johnson announced he would be leaving the hit movie franchise for good after appearing in four films. Only a month earlier, Diesel had given an interview with Men's Health where he talked about his alleged rift with Johnson, saying, "My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be."
Johnson continued: "And I came from a completely different culture and environment. And I go into every project giving it my all. And if I feel that there's some things that need to be squared away and handled and taken care of, then I do it. And it's just that simple. So when I read that, just like everybody else, I laughed. I laughed hard. We all laughed. And somewhere I'm sure Fellini is laughing too."
"My little brother Dwayne... the time has come," he wrote. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes... but the time has come."
