WARREN — Stephen Michael Weller, 86, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024.

Born Nov. 26, 1938, he was the son of Mary Ann Yobe and Stephen Thomas Weller.

Steve was a graduate of Leavittsburg High School where he played basketball and ran track and cross country, before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology and philosophy from Youngstown State University. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, stationed in Washington, D.C.

Above all, he took immense joy in Martial Arts. He was ranked as a 6th-degree Karate Master of Tae Kwon Do Ji Do Kwon under Grand Master Chun. Steve had many lifelong friendships that stemmed from high school and martial arts that he cared for dearly. His discipline and perseverance gave him a perspective of hope, regardless of any circumstances thrown his way.

Stephen was a loving father to his five sons, with his former spouse, Sandra Politsky Weller of Cortland. Their children include Stephen of Vienna, Thomas of Richmond Heights, Michael and Eric of Cortland, and Jason (Danielle Seemann) of Cleveland Heights. He was a grandfather to six granddaughters, Angel (Forrest Brooks) of DuBois, Pa., Autumn (Rob Sullivan) of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, Amber Weller of Columbus, Alyssa and Ashleigh Weller of Pittsburgh and Anna Weller of Cleveland Heights; along with four great-grandchildren, Forrest II, Colton, Elle and Leo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, in Stephen’s honor, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. Mary Church, 232 Seneca Ave. NE, Warren, OH 44481.

Visitation will be prior to the service, from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

He will be laid to rest in All Souls Cemetery, where military honors will be performed by the Tri-State Marine Corps League. A luncheon will follow at Walnut Run Clubhouse, in his honor.

Stephen’s family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Arrangements for Stephen were entrusted to Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
