Auburn edge rusher Amaris Williams has signed the papers necessary to enter the transfer portal, he told On3Sports on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive end will have 3 years of eligibility remaining next fall at whichever school is fortunate enough to get him in the portal. The true freshman had 7 tackles, 5 of them solo, and half a sack this season as his collegiate career got started on the Plains. Now, it’ll reportedly continue somewhere else in 2025.

— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) December 16, 2024Williams saw action in 10 of Auburn‘s 12 games during the 2024 season. He only missed the matchups against Arkansas and Georgia. The edge recorded 1 solo tackle apiece against Oklahoma, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Louisiana Monroe.
Williams, a member of Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class, was a 4-star recruit and the 62nd overall-ranked prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was the 6th-ranked edge rusher and the No. 1 player from the state of North Carolina.
As a senior at Clinton High School in Clinton, N.C., 20 of Williams’ 40 tackles were for loss. He also piled up 11 sacks as a high school senior. With Williams’ departure on Monday morning, the Tigers have now lost 2 of their top 4 signees from the class of 2024 – which was ranked No. 8 nationally by 247Sports.
