Cubs, Phil Bickford Agree To Minor League Deal ...Middle East

The Cubs are in agreement with reliever Phil Bickford on a minor league contract, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post (X link). The Rep 1 Baseball client qualified for minor league free agency at the start of the offseason. Bickford only made eight appearances at the big league level this year. He pitched 8 1/3 innings across two stints with the Yankees, allowing nine runs on 10 hits. The 29-year-old righty turned in solid numbers in Triple-A. Bickford worked to a 3.40 ERA with an excellent 30% strikeout percentage while limiting his walks to a 7.7% clip. While that didn’t translate in his brief big league look, the former first-rounder has shown the ability to miss bats at the MLB level
