Cal Fire: Training burn planned at Howard Forest ...Middle East

A training burn was scheduled to begin Thursday morning and continue into the weekend at the Cal Fire Howard Forest facility near Willits, the Mendocino Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported. According to a Cal Fire press release, “this training burn will treat approximately 100 acres of grass, and will allow firefighters the training opportunity to utilize various tactics and tools used in wildfire suppression operations.” The Howard Forest facility is located on Highway 101 south of Willits at the Ridgewood Grade, and “burning will begin at approximately 8 a.m. on Nov. 7, and conclude at approximately 3 p.m.” Cal Fire reports that the burning operations
