North Carolina baseball defeated Virginia 3-2

North Carolina baseball team secured a hard-fought victory over the Virginia Cavaliers with a final score of 3-2. This win was a result of strong pitching performances and timely hitting by the Tar Heels.

The game was a closely contested matchup between two competitive ACC teams. Both teams displayed exceptional defensive skills and strategic gameplay throughout the game. However, it was North Carolina's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities that ultimately led to their triumph.

The No. 8 national seed Seminoles (47-15) face the No. 1 seed Tennessee Vols (55-12) on Friday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

UT got to the CWS in 2001 for the first time since 2005. It returned in 2023 and won a CWS game for the first time since 2001.

The Vols are looking to break the curse of the No. 1 overall seed at the CWS, as the No. 1 overall team has not left Omaha as the national champions since 1999 when Miami hoisted the championship trophy.

NC State and Florida State — have never won the tournament. One of the two winners, Florida, is the only unseeded team in this year's field.

The lefty seemed to look like the first-team all-ACC pitcher with back-to-back strikeouts to start the second but found two-out trouble. A five-pitch walk to the nine-hole hitter brought up Moore for the second time in two innings, and he ripped a double down the line in left. A beautiful relay gave West the ball with the runner trying for home, but he dropped the ball as Tennessee went up 3-1. Then, Moore scored as Arnold botched a slow-roller back to the mound as the Noles unraveled.

Trailing 4-1, Link Jarrett’s team needed a response in the third. James Tibbs started the hit parade with a single to center before Dinges’ linear allowed Tibbs to go to third, as he advanced to second. Jamie Ferrer’s impactful day continued with a double into the right-center gap, bringing the 3-4 hitters into score. A Daniel Cantu single and Lodise walk loaded the bases with nobody out.
