Lucy Allan quits Tory party to support rival Reform candidate

Lucy Allan, a prominent member of the Tory Party, recently made headlines by announcing her decision to quit the party in order to support a rival reform candidate. This move has sparked widespread debate and speculation among political analysts and commentators.

Allan's decision to leave the Tory Party is significant not only because of her high profile within the party, but also because it reflects a growing dissatisfaction with the current political landscape. By throwing her support behind a reform candidate, Allan is signaling her belief that change is necessary in order to address the pressing issues facing society today.

Ms Allan insists that she quit the party in order to support Reform UK candidate Alan Adams in the seat she is vacating.

She publicly gave her support to Mr Adams rather than Tory Hannah Campbell in Telford, Shropshire.

A Conservative Party spokesman said she had been suspended "with immediate effect" while the prime minister said a vote for Reform would "put Keir Starmer in power".

Mr Adams would offer an alternative to "more of the same politics and more of the same politicians", Ms Allan said.

Following her public declaration of support for Mr Adams, the Conservatives took immediate action and suspended Ms Allan from the party.

But, in the latest blow to Rishi Sunak during a bumpy start to the PM's general election campaign, she claimed she had already quit the Tories in order to back Mr Adams' bid.

Ms Allan claimed the Reform hopeful was 'genuinely the best person for the job' and warned against allowing the Labour candidate a 'walkover' in Telford.

Ukip leader made his announcement on X hours before the Reform leader, Richard Tice, launched the party’s general election campaign at a press conference in London.

Farage tweeted: “I have thought long and hard as to whether I should stand in the upcoming general election. As honorary president of Reform UK, I am fully supportive of Richard Tice’s leadership and urge voters to put their trust in him and Lee Anderson [the party’s sole MP]. I will do my bit to help in the campaign, but it is not the right time for me to go further than that.”
