College Football Playoff : Top 25 for Conference Championship Week

Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

College football’s final week of the regular season did not disappoint.

With rivalry matchups abound across the sport, there was plenty of competitive football to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving weekend.

Michigan outlasted No. 2 Ohio State, 30–24, in the Big House, as the Wolverines won their third consecutive game in the rivalry and punched their ticket to the Big Ten title game.

A season defined by almost-upsets and favorites finding a way continued during rivalry week with CFP contenders withstanding unranked in-state foes Saturday.

No. 1 Georgia had to work harder than it has in years to beat Georgia Tech and complete a third straight perfect regular season.

Top four CFP teams

  • Georgia (12-0, 8-0 SEC)
  • Michigan (12-0, 9-0) Big Ten)
  • Washington (12-0, 9-0 Pac-12)
  • Florida State (12-0, 8-0 ACC)

  • Ohio State (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten)
  • Alabama (11-1, 8-0 SEC)
  • Missouri (10-2, 6-2 SEC)

  • Iowa (10-2, 7-2, Big Ten)
  • Arizona (9-3, 7-2, Pac-12)

  • Liberty (12-0, 8-0 Conference USA)
  • NC State (9-3, 6-2 ACC)
  • SMU (10-2, 8-0 AAC)
  • Toledo (11-1, 8-0 MAC)
  • Oregon State (8-4, 5-4 Pac-12)
  • Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC)

Michigan, there’s going to be a bit of a shakeup at the top that the College Football Playoff committee will have to sort out.

It’ll be very telling on whether the Buckeyes can still crash the CFP party based upon how far OSU falls in the rankings that are released on Tuesday. And while Ohio State was losing its way against Michigan, the other top contenders like Georgia, Washington, Florida State, Oregon, Texas, and Alabama all won — albeit some in dramatic fashion. You have to expect all of those teams will remain in the mix as we head into the conference championship games next weekend.
