Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius during their final face-off as the pair stared each other out.
Former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua takes on Helenius on Saturday night at The O2 arena after his original Dillian Whyte was forced out due to a positive drug test. Whyte returned an “adverse analytical finding" in a pre-fight VADA  test and Helenius stepped up on a week's notice to replace the Brit.
Briton Joshua, 33, weighed 17st 12lbs, a pound heavier than Helenius.
The 39-year-old Finn took the fight at a week's notice after Dillian Whyte failed a voluntary drugs test.
"You got a problem with me?" Joshua asked Helenius.
In a swift retort, Helenius told Joshua: "I don't got a problem with you."
Having just weighed in at Westfield London shopping centre on Friday, Joshua told his opponent: "We're going to fight now or we're going to fight tomorrow. Either way we're going to fight."
He instructed Helenius to "stop acting up", adding: "Let's stay calm, let's stay cool."
Deontay Wilder next, therefore Joshua will need to make a statement ahead of what could be one of the biggest fights in recent memory.
Helenius, 39, also said he would not have accepted a short-notice showdown with Joshua, 33, if he didn’t think the Briton was “vulnerable”. “I’m gonna take my chances and say now is the best time to fight him,” said the Finn.
Deontay Wilder did just that in October, detonating a short, counter right hook to put Helenius out cold in the first round. The Finn has since bounced back, beating Mike Mielonen just last Saturday, but it was Wilder’s performance against Helenius that made Joshua hesitant to accept him as a late-notice opponent. “It’s just the comparisons,” Joshua said, “but this is my fight with Helenius – my own fight, not Wilder’s fight, no one else’s.”
There's not much doubt about who should win this fight. Joshua is, by all measures, a better fighter than Helenius. Helenius also is chinny, easily hit and fairly slow, even for a heavyweight. When on his game, Joshua can box circles around almost every heavyweight on the planet. The problem is, Joshua sometimes gets a bit ahead of himself and gets caught. It happened against Ruiz, which means it could happen against Helenius.
