في الأيام الأخيرة لإدارة الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترمب، مضت وزارة الخزانة الأميركية بعيداً في إدراج مزيد من الشخصيات العراقية على لائحة العقوبات، تحت تهم تتعلق بانتهاك حقوق الإنسان (بالنسبة لفالح الفياض رئيس هيئة الحشد الشعبي) أو الإرهاب (بالنسبة لأبي فدك رئيس أركان الهيئة). ويعد أبو فدك، واسمه عبد العزيز المحمداوي ولقبه الآخر «الخال»، بمثابة الرجل الثاني القوي في «هيئة الحشد الشعبي»، بعد أبو مهدي المهندس الذي قتل العام الماضي في مثل هذا الشهر في حادثة المطار مع الجنرال الإيراني قاسم سليماني.
