The Qatar Racing Limited-owned colt Outbreak got off the mark with ease when taking the Byerley Stud Novice Stakes in Salisbury on Thursday. Trained by Mark Johnston, the two-year-old Outbreak was on his second start, having placed second on his debut at Chelmsford two weeks earlier. Outbreak broke smartly from the stall and was sent straight to the lead by Qatar Racing’s retained jockey Oisin Murphy. Taken across to the rail, Outbreak set a steady pace and was always a length up ahead the field through the first half of the 1,600m contest.
