Beloved 'Goonies' Star, 54, Reveals What Upsets Her About the Film  ...Saudi Arabia

Plimpton, who played Stephanie "Stef" Steinbrenner, shared she has some complicated feelings about the movie, directed by Richard Donner during the June 16 episode of Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast, Dinner's on Me.

She then noted she was only 14 years old when she shot the film.

She clarified that she has an appreciation for the movie and its strong fanbase.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly in May 2021, Plimpton said she did not expect the film to have lasting popularity. She explained that she and her castmates, which included Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and Ke Huy Quan, knew that the movie was "extraordinary" when they were filming it. She said, however, that it didn't have much box-office success. Instead, she said it reached "cult status" because of video rentals and cable television.

"Of course, now, people who were growing up then are showing it to their kids. And in some cases, their grandkids so it's pretty amazing. It's pretty incredible," said Plimpton during the Entertainment Weekly interview.
