An animal charity founder along with more than 100 cats and dogs were evacuated from Kabul on Friday, but some of the charity’s Afghan staff were left behind. Paul “Pen” Farthing, an ex-marine, set up the Nowzad animal shelter in Kabul, rescuing stray dogs, cats, and donkeys, after serving in Afghanistan in the mid-2000s.
