According to Pro Football Focus, Ohio State has the 2 best players in college football in 2025, Clemson has 3 of the top 10, and the SEC only houses 2 of the top 10.
On Friday, PFF unveiled the top 10 players in its series ranking the 50 best college football players in the country entering the 2025 season. Jeremiah Smith, the star sophomore wideout for Ohio State, sat atop the ranking. Former Alabama standout and current Ohio State safety Caleb Downs was No. 2. The rest of the top 10 is below:
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State wide receiver Caleb Downs, Ohio State defensive back Peter Woods, Clemson defensive lineman Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame running back Spencer Fano, Utah offensive lineman Leonard Moore, Notre Dame defensive back Cade Klubnik, Clemson quarterback Colin Simmons, Texas edge Dylan Stewart, South Carolina edge TJ Parker, Clemson edgeClemson led all schools with 3 players in the top 25. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Miami, and Arizona State each had 2 players in the top 25.
Though Alabama only had 1 player in the top 25, the Crimson Tide tied for the lead among all teams with 5 total players in the top 50. Texas also had 5 in the top 50. Clemson and Penn State each had 4. Miami and Indiana each had 3.
Ten SEC programs were represented in the rankings. Interestingly, Georgia, the reigning SEC champion, had only 1 player in the top 50.
Six Big Ten teams were represented in the ranking. Penn State led all of them with 4 players, while Indiana had 3. Oregon and Ohio State each had 2. Minnesota and Washington each had a single player.
Four ACC schools had players in the top 50.
