Prasidh Krishna is currently taking part in the second Test against the England National Cricket Team, which is underway at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Krishna has received good backing from the selectors and team management to deliver for India in Test cricket, mainly because he is a hit-the-deck bowler who can bowl with a good pace.
In the Test series opener against England at Headingley in Leeds, Krishna leaked 128 and 92 runs across two innings while picking up 3 and 2 wickets at an economy of 6.40 and 6.13.
However, the Karnataka pacer was demolished by the English wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith in the 32nd over of the innings and ended up conceding 23 runs in the over.
Most expensive over for India in Tests since 2000:
25 runs - Munaf Patel vs West Indies, Basseterre, 2006
23 runs - Prasidh Krishna vs England, Birmingham, 2025*
In 8 overs before lunch, he conceded 61 runs at an economy of 7.62 while going wicketless. Currently, he has an economy rate of 5.28 in Test cricket, which is the worst among the pacers who have bowled a minimum of 500 balls in the 148-year history of Test cricket.
5.28 - Prasidh Krishna
4.66 - Zahir Khan
4.59 - Nahid Rana
England are still way behind - Stuart Broad
At Lunch, England were in a good position in the match with 249/5 in 47 overs and Harry Brook (91*) alongside Jamie Smith (102*) unbeaten in the middle.
"When Smith came in, WinViz had England at one per cent. That's as low as you can get and as far behind in the game you can be.
"It's been an amazing partnership from Smith and Brook but England are still way behind in this game. India are still controlling everything."
