Cam Ward’s $10million replacement earning more in NIL deals than Bo Nix’s contract as starting NFL QB ...Middle East

Bo Nix established himself as one of the NFL’s most promising quarterbacks during an eye-catching 2024 season.

Drafted out of Oregon by the Denver Broncos with the 12th overall pick, the rookie went on to throw for 3,777 yards and 29 touchdowns in his first pro year.

He also helped the Broncos snap an eight-year playoff drought, guiding the team to the postseason for the first time since 2016, providing a brilliant answer to the $245 million Russell Wilson failure.

Nix did all that on a rookie NFL deal that saw him earn $3.3 million.

Upon arriving in Denver, the quarterback signed a four-year, $18 million contract.

That, of course, is a hell of a lot of money to the average person.

But in context of American sports in this day and age, Nix actually finds himself on the lower end of the scale.

And while the cap hit for his contract in 2025 will be $4.2 million, the 25-year-old is set to be out-earned by college quarterback Carson Beck.

The senior spent five years with the Georgia Bulldogs, where he red-shirted in 2020 before establishing himself as the starter in 2023.

Beck threw an impressive 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns that season, before following up with 3,485 yards and 28 TDs in 2024, en-route to the SEC Championship.

For his final year in college, the 22-year-old has transferred to the University of Miami, to play for the Miami Hurricanes.

Beck will replace Cam Ward, who entered the NFL this season as the first overall pick of the 2025 draft, and is set to make $4.4 million thanks to his impressive NIL (name, image, and likeness) package.

That is more than double the $1.6 million that Ward was reportedly paid for the 2024 season, and also surpasses Nix’s second-year NFL salary.

According to Front Office Sports (FOS), Beck’s transfer to Miami has secured him close to $10 million in combined NIL deals in the past 12 months.

That figure comes from a mix of his brand deals and money from the Miami NIL collective Canes Connection.

“With the expertise of ESM and the unwavering support of Carson’s longtime quarterback coach Denny Thompson, we have secured nearly eight figures in agreements over the past 12 months,” Dan Everett, Beck’s agent, told FOS in January.

“Carson’s partnerships with leading brands demonstrate his ability to connect with premium and national audiences.”

The quarterback has 127,000 followers on Instagram alone, and was previously in a high-profile relationship with fellow Hurricanes athlete and social influencer Hanna Cavinder, who also earns millions in NIL dollars.

Beck and Cavinder were said to have broken up in April.

Set to begin his sixth college season in September, Beck was the No. 1 ranked quarterback out of high school in the class of 2020.

He won two national titles as a backup to Stetson Bennett, before accumulating a 24-3 starting record, while throwing for 7,912 yards, 58 touchdowns with 20 interceptions.

Beck’s 2024 season came to a premature end when he suffered a UCL injury in his elbow that required surgery.

He initially declared for the NFL draft, but later reversed that decision and instead opted to enter the transfer portal.

Despite his injury, Miami decided that they were willing to roll the dice, and Beck will now hope to follow in the footsteps of Ward.

The No. 1 pick was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in his final college season, and threw for 4,313 yards and 39 TDs before being drafted by the Tennessee Titans first overall.
