India U19 cricket team star Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name in the history books yet again, this time by smashing the third fastest half-century in IND U19 history. The 14-year-old played a scintillating 31-ball 86-run knock that powered to India to a four-wicket win against Northampton. The five-match series currently stands in India’s favour – 2-1.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi goes bersek again!
Suryavanshi took just 14 deliveries to reach the half-century mark, with his fine form spilling over to yet another game. His knock was studded with six fours and nine sixes, and he boasted of a strike rate of 277.41. with his knock, Vaibhav also went past Suresh Raina who previously held the record for the fastest 80-run knock in U19 ODI history.
That’s not all. Suryavanshi’s knock was the fourth fastest fifty and the second by an Indian after Rishabh Pant in Youth ODIs. He smashed the most sixes hit by an Indian in U19 ODI for India, surpassing previous record holder Mandeep Singh who had 8 sixes to his name.
Vaibhav was leading the team in the absence of regular skipper Ayush Mhatre. Northampton managed to set a 269-run target for India U19, with Thomas Rew top-scoring with an unbeaten 76-run knock.
It was then the 14-year-old who set the stage for a perfect run-chase for India. Suryavanshi’s blitzkreig ensured that India U19 got to 111/2 in just 8 overs by the time he was dismissed. Vihaan Malhotra (46). Kanishk Chouhan (43) and RS Ambrish (31) then saw India through the game with 33 balls to spare.
Suryavanshi has been in the form of his life lately. After managing to turn heads in IPL 2025 with his fiery hundred, the youngster has been playing his A-game in England as well. He has only played 3 Youth ODIs so far and his scores are 48, 45 and 86.
