Comedy Central has officially delayed the premiere of South Park Season 27 by two weeks, now setting the return for Wednesday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET.
The delay did not sit well with Parker and Stone, who responded bluntly on the show’s official X account: “This merger is a shitshow and it’s fucking up South Park,” they wrote. “We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”

— South Park (@SouthPark) July 2, 2025According to a June 21 letter obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Parker and Stone’s company Park County accused Jeff Shell, the incoming president of the soon-to-be-merged Skydance-Paramount, of interfering in negotiations with potential streaming partners like Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix.
“You did this behind Park County’s back,” wrote general counsel Afshin Beyzaee in the letter. “That self-dealing would have been absolutely restricted if it were done by Paramount itself.”
In response, a Skydance spokesperson told THR, “Under the terms of the transaction agreement, Skydance has the right to approve material contracts.”
While Parker and Stone remain hard at work on new episodes, the legal and corporate drama has clearly taken a toll.
