Auburn is officially a Nike school.
The Tigers previously announced a deal with Nike, but their agreement officially goes is now officially in-effect as of July 1.
The new apparel deal will impact all sports at Auburn beginning this fall. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze released a statement on the move as part of the announcement.
“We are thrilled to kick off the Nike era of Auburn football,” Freeze said in a statement. “I’ve seen firsthand Nike’s commitment to excellence and innovation. Our student-athletes look forward to competing in Nike cleats and uniforms in front of the greatest fans in college football this season at Jordan-Hare Stadium.”
In addition to football, fall sports soccer, volleyball, cross country and equestrian will be the first to rep Nike on the Plains.
Auburn men’s basketball coach Steven Pearl also commented on the move.
“Nike basketball is the most recognizable brand in the world,” Pearl said in a release. “All of our student-athletes and recruits recognize that and want to be a part of that. The most signature shoe athletes of any brand with some of the most recognizable athletes in the world. For our players to have the opportunity to wear those shoes on a nightly basis and with their daily training, our guys are really excited.”
Fans will be able to purchase Auburn apparel with the famous Nike Swoosh beginning on July 25, according to the University.
Auburn initially announced a 10-year deal with Nike approximately 15 months ago, replacing Under Armour as its primary apparel sponsor. The Tigers had been an Under Armour school since 2006 prior to making the change to Nike.
