Man City vs Al Hilal: Team news

Man City will likely name a strong side tonight as they look to reach the latter stages of the Club World Cup.

Erling Haaland, who has scored twice in the USA already, will lead the line with Savinho and Jeremy Doku competing with Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki.

Tijjani Reijnders is likely to start with Rodri now back to fitness too, while Rayan Ait Nouri is starting to make left-back his own already.

One definite absentee from the City squad is Rico Lewis, who is still suspended.

As for Al Hilal, former Man City defender João Cancelo will meet his old teammates, playing next to ex-Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

Another familiar face in Ruben Neves will be in from the off, sitting in behind Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and former Barcelona man Malcolm.

Man City vs Al Hilal: What has been said?

Guardiola has been left wondering whether the Club World Cup will impact Man City’s chances of success in the Premier League.

He said ahead of this game: “I try to relax, enjoy the days here and the good vibes that we have, the competition and we try to win it.

“The most important thing is to recover and find within ourselves what we were. That’s my main target in this tournament.

“I want them to feel that this is our path again to be competitive like we have been in eight of the last nine years.”

“After this, let’s see what happens,” he added. “Let’s see what happens after the final. We will rest for the time the Premier League allow us.

“Maybe in November, December or January it will be a disaster, we are exhausted and the World Cup has destroyed us.

“I don’t know, it’s the first time in our lives that this has happened. We will see when we come back.”
