Aryna Sabalenka is a clear 11/4 favourite for the Wimbledon women’s singles this year after finishing runner-up to Americans Madison Keys and Coco Gauff at the Australian and French Opens respectively and the world number one, no stranger to success on grass, may well be the one to beat in the London Grand Slam tournament.
The oddsmakers reckon Sabalenka could encounter most trouble from 2022 All England Club champion Elena Rybakina, who is 11/2 second favourite.
Paris heroine Gauff is shading former world number one and clay-court lover Iga Swiatek for third place in the market and then it’s 14/1 about 2023 Wimbledon queen Marketa Vondrousova and top youngster Mirra Andreeva.

Gauff could make further strides in wake of Paris glory
Coco Gauff nailed her second Grand Slam singles title in the French Open in early June and it may not take the world number two as long to collect major number three as it did her first and second.
The Atlanta native, 21, showcased her immense potential when defeating Venus Williams at Wimbledon in 2019. And, while it has taken longer than many observers may have imagined for Gauff to rise to near the top of her chosen sport, the learning goes on for this huge talent.
Gauff still has much to do to rule on grass. She opens with a tough-looking clash against useful Dayana Yastremska and outright backers should know that the favourite is no certainty to survive that test, especially after having played only one competitive match on the surface in the last three weeks.
But one day soon it is likely to click for Gauff on grass, as it has done on hard courts and, as of this year, clay courts. And when it does, the rest could struggle to live with her so she looks worth chancing in a win bet at 15/2.
Paolini out to show she can climb even higher
Jasmine Paolini finished runner-up in the French Open and Wimbledon last year and the diminutive Italian has already shown she is back in the groove with a clay-court title in her homeland’s biggest tournament.
Paolini denied Gauff in the final of the Italian Open in May and while the Tuscan, 29, may not have the powerpack and armoury required to go deep in all events, she is fully aware of the need to be at her best in the majors and it would take a brave punter to write off her chances of another positive Wimbledon run in the coming fortnight.
Paolini finds herself in the top half of the draw in London this year and possible opponents such as Linda Noskova, Amanda Anisimova and Qinwen Zheng may find the determined Italian difficult to sweep aside.
And considering this year’s Wimbledon looks an open one, should Paolini reach the second week she would be no certainty to be facing big-name opponents.
