Jake Paul cruised to victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, before hitting back at fans who booed him in the arena.

Paul was making his first appearance since his record-breaking victory over heavyweight legend Mike Tyson last November.

And it was a big step-up as he stepped into the ring with former world champion and Canelo Alvarez‘s former opponent Chavez Jr, who had nothing to lose.

Victory for the ‘Problem Child’ had higher stakes than ever, given he would earn a world ranking with two governing bodies at cruiserweight.

Paul could also set up a huge potential showdown in the second half of the year with the likes of Gervonta Davis and Anthony Joshua heavily linked.

And he delivered, but was forced to go all the way to the judges’ scorecards.

The American had his hand raised as a unanimous decision, with the cards reading 97-93, 98-92 and 99-91 in Paul’s favour.

He was booed for the majority of the contest, and they continued to sound at the final bell after Chavez Jr’s defeat was confirmed.

And in his post-fight interview, Paul lashed back at the doubters he has faced in his career.

He wildly shouted while putting a finger to his lips: “All the boos are words and actions speak louder than words so you can shut the *** up.

“I live for this s**t from your mother f***ers. That was easy work, I only got hit ten times. I’m him.

“I beat your boy. Nah he is a warrior but so am I.

“I think I did great against a former world champion who has never been stopped and I dominated him.

“Yeah 100% I’m staying active, I’m fighting everybody. I’ll fight anyone, any time, anywhere, any place.”
