A Fort Wayne, Indiana, mother was arrested on reckless homicide charges stemming from a deadly LaPorte County crash that occurred following a road rage incident.
Deondra Moore, 29, was charged with reckless homicide following the collision on Friday afternoon along County Road 400 North near Michigan City, the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. The other driver, Felisha Stout, 26, of Westville, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatality crash.
Both women were driving westbound on CR 400 North when a road rage incident began at around 1 p.m., deputies said. At one point, Moore drove off the south side of the roadway and collided with several trees, causing her vehicle to catch fire.
Moore and two children escaped the crash, police said. Moore’s daughter, 10-month-old Khleja’nae Sims, died in the fire, according to the sheriff’s office.
Stout, the other driver, left the scene immediately following the crash but returned after sheriff’s deputies arrived. Moore was taken to an area hospital for treatment and later booked into the LaPorte County Jail.
Both she and Stout remain lodged in the jail as of Saturday night. Moore was being held on a $15,005 cash-only bond, while Stout’s bond was set at $20,005.
